Beyond Clean Beauty: How Waphyto Celebrates Earth Day Today and Every Day
What does it mean to be a human and eco-friendly company?
This year, as we observe Earth Day on April 22nd, Waphyto believes that it is important to reflect on the importance of this special holiday.
Established in the United States in 1970, Earth Day is a day to uphold Mother Earth by creating awareness around environmental issues and committing to the preservation of our planet. Today, Earth Day is celebrated globally, with numerous events and initiatives.
At Waphyto, we are especially inspired by this year’s theme, “Invest In Our Planet” which is focused on sustainability in business and the international economy. As a clean beauty company, Waphyto has always placed importance on coexistence with the environment. A few of the ways we do this include:
- Ingredients Sourced With Intention
As Japan’s biomethodology beauty brand, all of our products are focused around plant-based natural ingredients. To create all of our formulas, we grow many of our own botanicals at our home base in Mikawa, and source ingredients locally whenever possible. We also strive to synchronize our production efforts without disrupting the ecosystems of our natural world.
- Sustainable Packaging Processes
Understanding that many of today’s cosmetic packaging options create marine plastic waste and ocean pollution, Waphyto is especially concerned with developing eco-friendly alternatives. For this reason, we use recycled glass, PCR (post-consumer recycled) plastic, and upcycled materials for all of our product containers and promotional items. Additionally, we encourage our customers to reduce, reuse, and recycle by offering TerraCycle container collection at all of our retail stores.
- Marketing That Minimizes Waste
Another aspect of our strategy to reduce environmental impact is with non-traditional marketing materials. To conserve paper waste, Waphyto uses recycled paper boxes made from plant residue and vegetable inks for printing all packaging text. As much as possible, we digitize promotional materials and we are actively working to eliminate paper bags by providing eco-friendly bags for our shoppers.
